Judge faces 45 ethics charges, is accused of delaying trials and defendants' release
An Indiana judge is facing 45 ethics counts for allegedly mishandling her work duties, including but not limited to claimed delay of bench trials she thought might last beyond 4 p.m.
The disciplinary charges against Marion Superior Court Judge Kimberly Brown date back as far as 2009, when she assumed the bench, and continue until July of this year, reports the Indianapolis Star.
She is accused of delaying cases, creating a hostile work environment for lawyers and court employees and holding up the release of at least nine defendants, among other allegations. The state judicial qualifications commission says she “failed to preserve the integrity of the judiciary,” the article notes.
Brown is on vacation and could not be reached by the newspaper for comment.
