Judge Raises Lindsay Lohan’s Bond Because of Bracelet Report
A Los Angeles judge raised Lindsay Lohan’s bond to $200,000 on Tuesday after an alcohol monitoring bracelet detected a small amount of liquor.
Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, told CNN that her client posted the new bond. “Having just received the report, I am not in a position to speak to its accuracy or validity,” she told the network. “However Ms. Lohan maintains that she has been in complete compliance with all of the terms of her probation and her bail.”
Sources told the Associated Press the alcohol report came Sunday, the night of the MTV Movie Awards. Lohan wore long pants to the event to cover the ankle bracelet, AP says. On Twitter, Lohan wrote that her bracelet couldn’t possibly have indicated a violation, Reuters reports. “It’s physically impossible considering I’ve nothing for it to go off,” she wrote. “All of these false reports are absolutely wrong.”
Judge Marsha Revel ordered Lohan to wear the bracelet last month after she allegedly failed to attend alcohol counseling classes required as part of a 2007 drunken driving conviction, and then failed to show up in court, CNN says. Lohan had claimed she missed the court date because she lost her passport while attending the Cannes Film Festival. Photos from the French festival had showed Lohan partying on a yacht on the day of her scheduled court appearance.
