A judge in Washington state was hospitalized overnight for minor injuries caused when his face was doused with a clear liquid thrown by an unknown attacker.

Judge Michael “Brett” Buckley of Thurston County told police he answered his door Monday night, and a man he didn’t know threw the liquid at him, report SeattlePI.com, the Olympian and the Nisqually Valley News. The attacker turned and walked away without saying anything, according to a police statement.

Buckley told police he felt nothing at first, but went to the hospital when he later experienced skin irritation. Authorities are analyzing samples of the liquid.
