A Texas judge who survived an attack outside her home last year in what she calls “the most terrifying moment of my life” says the crime likely would never have occurred if she had been warned about a prior threat.

About two weeks earlier, a caller had told the Travis County District Attorney’s office that a man she knows wanted to kill a county judge, reports Time Warner Cable News. Although voicemails did not name Judge Julie Kocurek, they did name a suspect who had a case before Kocurek several years earlier.

But no one told her, said Kocurek, who believes she should have been informed.

“If I had known there was a threat, No. 1, I would have left the house,” the judge said, adding: “I have the right to decide if a threat is credible.”
