At least one judicial candidate didn’t feel the need to sound intellectual when asked which historical figure he would most want to spend the day with.

Former Boston Celtics star Larry Bird was the person named by Rhode Island probate judge Stephen Isherwood, the Providence Journal reports.

Isherwood said Bird “is a lunch-pail kind of guy who goes above the call of duty. When you think of some of the adversity he faced and what he accomplished, it’s impressive.”

Other candidates named Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall and Jesus. The candidates are vying for two open district court seats in Rhode Island.
