Judicial Conference Quadruples Free PACER Access, Chops Cost of Digital Audio
In a closed-door meeting today at the U.S. Supreme Court, the policymaking body for the federal judiciary decided to quadruple the amount of free legal documents available through the PACER system.
Previously limited to $10 worth of free documents per year, users will now be allowed $10 worth per quarter, reports the Blog of Legal Times.
The Judicial Conference of the United States also plans to expand a pilot program in which digital audio of court proceedings was made available via PACER at a few federal district and bankruptcy courts and cut the cost of the recordings from $26 to $2.40.
