After deliberating for nearly four days, a Baltimore jury today found a community activist guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of his pregnant wife outside a courthouse where she had just applied for a protective order.

Cleaven Williams had admitted that he killed his wife, but argued that he acted in self-defense after she initially stabbed him, reports WBAL.

As detailed in a previous ABAJournal.com post, his lawyer contended during trial that the crime was an unintentional manslaughter fueled by Williams’ rage over his wife’s mistreatment of him.
