Jury summonses sent to at least 350 people in southeast Missouri last month listed a number for a phone sex hotline.

Circuit Clerk Randy Carney says he doesn’t know the reason for the mix-up, report the Associated Press, the Sun Herald, and the Mississippi Press.

The summons instructed potential jurors to call one of two numbers—one local, the other an 800 number—the night before the day of their summons, which was Feb. 1. The 800 number was off by one digit, showing a number that sent callers to the sex hotline.

Carney had been on the job for only a month when he learned of the problem on Sunday. The outside printing company was supposed to change only the name of the court clerk, but for some reason one digit in the 800 number was also changed.

Carney is drafting an apology letter. “I’m sure at some point I’ll sit back and laugh about it,” Carney told the Mississippi Press, “but right not it’s not too funny.”
