Jury that acquitted Casey Anthony got it right, her defense lawyer says in new book

A Florida jury that acquitted mother Casey Anthony three years ago in a notorious child-murder case got it right, one of her defense lawyers says in a new book.
Still reviled by those who believe her guilty in the death of her toddler daughter and living a low-profile life, Anthony was adamant that she had not killed Caylee and displayed tremendous determination and strength of character by refusing to negotiate for a plea bargain during her capital murder trial, attorney J. Cheney Mason told CNN.
In his new book, Justice in America: How Prosecutors and the Media Conspire Against the Accused, the former president of the Florida Association of Criminal Lawyers says the world owes his ex-client an apology and blames the media for giving the public a distorted view of Anthony, according to the Daily Mail and the Sun Sentinel.
Mason, 70, said he and his family received death threats over his defense of Anthony and believes his pro bono work on her behalf contributed to a stroke he suffered, News 13 reports. Nonetheless, he has no regrets.
“I told Mr. Baez when we talked and I agreed to be part of the team—I’ll be the last man standing,” he said.
Mason’s book is now available online and can be purchased in hard copy form by next month.
