Last summer, Philadelphia lawyer Justin Bieber started getting 50 to 60 Facebook friend requests each week, but few of his new acquaintances were the potential personal injury clients he was hoping to attract with a new marketing campaign.

The messages said “I love you” or “I love it when you sing” or “You’re not Justin Bieber,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Bieber, a lawyer with Clearfield, Kofsky & Penneys, was in the planning stages of a marketing campaign when he became so popular, the story says. His marketing experts suggested he use his middle name, Matte, instead of his first name, but Bieber rejected the idea. “I don’t go by Matte Bieber, so that would be even stranger,” he told the newspaper. “So, we went with Justin Matte Bieber.”

Now Bieber advertises in the Philadelphia Daily News, producing several phone calls each week and a few new clients.

Patti Williams, a marketing professor at the Wharton School, says the confusion with the pop singer may be a good thing. “Many people do not know the name of a lawyer, so to have a name like his come to mind so quickly could potentially be very helpful,” she told the Inquirer.
