Billionaire attorney Joe Jamail is featured in a Slate list of the 80 most powerful octagenarians in America.
Relying on a profile of Jamail in an ABA Journal article about seven 70-plus lions of the trial bar, Slate notes that the 84-year-old is still pursuing bet-the-farm litigation.
To date, the King of Torts has won more than $13 billion for his clients and tried over 500 jury and bench trials, as the ABA profile details.

This approach is actually an improvement on the contrary viewpoint. Having (apparently) never done anything at all significant in my life so far, I never made anybody’s list of 30 under 30, 40 under 40, or 50 under 50. By way of contrast, if the “80 over 80” approach spreads, I may be able to make the list of “100 over 100” if I can just last long enough (I figure by then, the listers will be casting around pretty desperately to make the quota).
