A Kirkland & Ellis partner who was formerly deputy attorney general will represent BP in a criminal probe by the Justice Department.
The lawyer, Mark Filip, left the Justice Department 18 months ago and also has experience as a Chicago federal judge, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Filip will be working with other defense lawyers, including WilmerHale partner Jamie Gorelick, who represented BP in White House negotiations over the $20 billion compensation fund, the story says.
