K&L Gates is the latest BigLaw firm to plant its flag in the hot Houston market.

Longtime Fulbright & Jaworski partner Charles L. Strauss, who headed that firm’s securities practice group, will now help K&L Gates launch its fourth Texas office there, the firm announced in a Monday press release. The office is the 25th nationally and the 47th worldwide for K&L Gates, which recently merged with the Australian firm Middletons.

“We’re fortunate to have Charles Strauss join us as the founding partner of our Houston office,” said Peter J. Kalis, the chairman and global managing partner of the firm, in the release. “Charles’ inclusive approach to the practice of law is perfectly aligned with our integrated global platform. We look forward to working with Charles to grow a dynamic and client-focused Houston office.”
