A laid-off Kirkland & Ellis associate has bested another lawyer to win The Apprentice.

Lawyer Brandy Kuentzel won the competition overseen by Donald Trump in the season finale on Thursday evening, according to the Daily Mail and AOL Jobs.

Kuentzel is a University of Chicago law graduate who started a cupcake truck business after her layoff from Kirkland, according to the University of Chicago’s JD/MBA Blog. Kuentzel disclosed that her favorite law prof was Todd Henderson and her most embarrassing moment was receiving her real property grade.

The blog asked Kuentzel for advice to law grads whose career plans have “taken a detour.”

“Just think of how much more prepared you will be to weather the next storm,” Kuentzel answered. “I am a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason. This past year has been an amazing adventure for me, so I am finding it difficult at present to think of a detour in life as anything other than the correct path.”

A different blog post notes several University of Chicago law grads have done stints in reality TV and on game shows. Three grads appeared on Jeopardy, one on Survivor, two (including Kuentzel) on The Apprentice, and one on The Mole.
