After news earlier this week that two intellectual property partner groups had announced plans to exit Howrey during a single day, one including a rainmaker with a reputed $20 million book of business, comes word of more contractions there.

A top antitrust partner is leaving the law firm’s Brussels and London offices, and the Salt Lake City office is to close in mid-February, the Am Law Daily reports, following up on information provided by Legal Week and Above the Law.

Trevor Soames hasn’t made definite plans about where he will next practice, but is in discussions with several firms, Legal Week reports. He was in charge of the Brussels office and served as co-head of Howrey’s global antitrust practice.

“I’m obviously sad to be moving on as I have had an enjoyable and successful time at Howrey, and will be sorry to leave the firm—most especially its superb transatlantic antitrust group with whom I have been privileged to work for the last eight years,” he says in an e-mail today to his contacts. “I am considering my next steps very carefully, but I am determined to build a market-leading antitrust practice again, in Brussels.”

Meanwhile, the Salt Lake City office will soon be down to one partner and a handful of associates, Above the Law reported, citing confirmation from a Howrey spokesperson.

The anonymous blog howreydoin offers unconfirmed information and comments from individuals who apparently may include Howrey insiders.
