Latham & Watkins has established a foothold in Saudi Arabia by associating with a former ally of White & Case now operating the Law Office of Mohammed Al-Sheikh in Riyadh.

Its new Riyadh office is the firm’s fourth in the Middle East, after a trifecta opening last year of offices in Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai. The firm now has more than 50 lawyers working in all four offices, reports Legal Week. A Latham Web page gives more details about the four offices.

Earlier this year, Latham recruited 13 partners from White & Case’s offices in London and the Middle East. Among them, were Mohammed Al-Sheikh and Christopher Langdon, who is now a partner in the Riyadh office, according to an earlier Legal Week article.

“The Middle East is one of the most dynamic regions in the world economy and we remain committed to developing our presence in the region as a key focus of our global growth strategy. We expect to see continued inbound and outbound activity that demands sophisticated legal counsel and our presence in Riyadh will significantly bolster our regional capability,” says firm chairman and managing partner Robert Dell, Chairman in a Latham press release today announcing the new Riyadh affiliation.

“We are delighted to establish a presence in Saudi Arabia with partners Mohammed Al-Sheikh and Christopher Langdon,” Dell continues. “Their stature in the market, knowledge across numerous industries and experience are a perfect fit for our growth strategy.”

Founded in Los Angeles in 1934, Latham now has some 2,000 lawyers in 30 offices worldwide, according to its website.
