Law firm covers bill for juror whose car was towed during trial of tow truck driver
A Pennsylvania law firm has stepped up to the plate for a juror hit by a double whammy.
After inadvertently parking in a Luzerne County Courthouse space reserved for the county manager, Elias Rojas had his car towed Thursday. Luzerne County Sheriff Brian Szumski said the car also appeared to have no insurance when the plate number was run and hence could not be legally driven, the Citizens’ Voice reports.
Rojas, 21, insisted his car was insured when it was towed. Nonetheless, he had expected to have to pay the $200 tow bill himself and was thrilled to discover, when he arrived to take custody of his vehicle, that Fellerman and Ciarimboli had already covered the cost of the tow.
“I’m extremely grateful for what he did,” Rojas said of attorney Ed Ciarimboli during a Friday interview with the newspaper. “He didn’t have to do what he did. I’m a complete stranger to him.”
Meanwhile, Rojas and fellow jurors had done their civic duty and rendered a guilty verdict in a criminal case after a four-day trial. The defendant was a tow truck driver charged with theft.
