Looking for a discount on a foot rub, your next visit to a tanning salon–or legal services? Brown & Crouppen offers them all, via its “VIP Platinum Card.”
Plus, the card, sent out by the St. Louis plaintiff personal injury firm in marketing mailings, is transferable to others who might be interested in such offers, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The marketing program passes muster under legal ethics rules, according to Sarah Rittman, Missouri Bar ethics counsel. “There is a prohibition in Missouri for giving something of value in exchange for a referral,” she explained to the newspaper. “You can give a discount, and this is what the letter says is being given.”
