After letting 76 lawyers and staff go earlier this year, a United Kingdom law firm is mulling another round of layoffs.

This time Denton Wilde Sapte says it is launching redundancy consultations concerning 20 secretaries and 9 additional support staff, reports Legal Week. Most of the possible layoffs are expected to take place in the firm's London offices.

"This is not something that we wanted to do, but we can now see the way the year is shaping up and even though we shall be on budget for the year, or above, we will have sufficient capacity to meet any increase in activity levels," chief executive Howard Morris tells the legal publication "We have been careful to monitor activity levels and we have come to the decision that this is the right thing to do."

I don’t want to seem unduly critical, but its does seem to me that “ponder” has been somewhat overused in headlines the last two weeks or so.  I would postulate that a common thesaurus could provide many useful synonyms for “ponder,” to perhaps provide more variation, and give poor “ponder” a much-needed rest.
