Law firm responds to suit by ousted name partner, says he owed $373K
Sued by a name partner who contends he has been constructively expelled, a well-known Philadelphia worker’s compensation law firm argues in a responding salvo that Halmon L. “Sonny” Banks III owes his partners over $373,000.
In a brief filed Monday in response to Banks’ Philadelphia Common Pleas Court suit, which seeks injunctive relief to maintain the status quo until the situation is resolved, other partners at Martin Banks said he had failed to pay his shared expense obligation of $373,764, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.
In his Friday suit, Banks said he has lost income to which he was entitled after his partners steered work to other lawyers, fired his personal paralegal, excluded him from management activities, made false and defamatory statements and isolated him from from co-workers, as an earlier Philadelphia Business Journal article details.
Banks is seeking a court order to prevent the firm from taking further action, such as removing his name from the firm and its marketing materials.
He and founding partner George Martin have reportedly worked together for 26 years.
