Law firm sues now-former name partners after 16 lawyers exit in 3-way split
Known until Monday as Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton, a Pennsylvania insurance law firm now operating as Nelson Brown & Co. is suing two former name partners following the departure of 16 lawyers in a three-way split.
Named as defendants in the suit filed Monday in Montgomery County common pleas court are Daniel de Luca and Kenneth Levine. They are accused of resigning Friday from Nelson Levine without providing the 90-day notice required under a partnership agreement and refusing to share legal fees from legal work generated while they were still at the firm, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The two have formed de Luca Levine with eight other former Nelson Levine lawyers. Another six attorneys from Nelson Levine have established Clark & Fox, which is not at issue in the suit. An earlier Philadelphia Business Journal article provides additional details about the firm split.
Lawyers from both Nelson Brown and the deLuca firm declined comment about the suit when contacted by the legal publication.
Reporting in July about an administrative addition to Nelson Levine, the Philadelphia Business Journal said the firm had 75 attorneys on its roster at that time.
