In addition to being a thief who stole some $2.7 million in seven years from the United Kingdom law firm at which she was a longtime, trusted employee, Louise Martini also was apparently not a good manager of money.

Having reportedly spent most of the moolah on living large (her personal expenses included a share in a racehorse) she now has only about $389,000 in assets to show for the crime for which she is serving time, reports the Birmingham Mail.

So a Gloucester Crown Court judge today ordered Martini, 36, to make restitution only for the amount of her assets rather than the entire $2.7 million, the newspaper says.

She is serving a five-year sentence for theft and money laundering. The unidentified law firm she victimized is located in Solihull.
