Law Firm Worker Sits Alone at Front of Line to Purchase Chicago's First iPad Tomorrow
Despite all the hoopla about the Apple’s new iPad, which goes on sale tomorrow, a worker at a criminal defense firm in is not only the first but, as of this morning, the only person in line to purchase one at the Apple store on Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue shopping district.
Cheline Lundin, 25, had already preordered a 16-gigabyte version of the tablet-like computer and telephone for $499. But a Good Friday holiday at her firm made it possible for her to stake a place at the front of the line to enhance her chance of getting the city’s first iPad tomorrow, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
A manager at the store bought Lundin a double shot, sugar free, vanilla soy latte at Starbucks to supplement the granola bar and bottle of water she had at hand this morning as she sat outside the store’s door in a lawn chair, and Lundin pronounced the drink “delicious.” However, she was sorry to see that her expected overnight vigil, at least initially, may be a lonely one.
“I’m very disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm by Midwesterners,” she tells the newspaper.
