It isn't just plaintiffs lawyers who are looking to hire professionals with medical expertise to help point the way toward high-value tort claims.
A number of well-known law firms have recently hired nonlawyer physicians to bolster their defense practices, the On the Docket blog of Forbes magazine reports.
Among them is Atlanta-based Arnall Golden Gregory, at which Dr. Charles Whigham is now on the roster. A former Medicare Part B director for Aetna, he will now help clients facing government litigation over medical billing issues.
Foley Hoag, McDermott Will & Emory and at least two other firms also have doctors on staff to deal with medical billing litigation, On the Docket reports.
