A disenchanted law grad hopes to pay for the cost of her education by selling her law degree on eBay.

The person known as “Resumé Goddess” has put the starting bid at $200,000 for her law degree at John Marshall in Chicago, CNBC.com reports.

The posting begins: “Wish you had a law degree? You can buy mine at cost. You can’t use it to sit for the bar or to get a job as a lawyer or even add ‘JD’ after your name but, once you buy it, you own it, and you can truthfully tell people, ‘I have a law degree.’ ”

The posting says the law degree is only 6 years old and never used. “This law degree comes with grand promises of respect, success and wealth,” the posting continues. “Only a small percentage of the population have one, and this can be yours at cost! Must sell due to severe financial distress. Full Disclosure: This fine Law Degree was an impulse purchase, made during a mid-life crisis. Includes original name. LAW LICENSE NOT INCLUDED. All sales are final. No returns.”

Resumé Goddess isn’t the first person to turn to online sales sites in frustration. One San Francisco lawyer sick of the billable hour and other lawyers sought to sell his law degree on Craigslist and eBay. He received an offer of $200, several offers from people who wanted to buy him a drink, and a woman who perceived him to be her soul mate, Above the Law reported last March. A DePaul law school graduate sought $100,000 for the degree in 2008 because of the “stress and misery” it caused. Another Craigslist posting sought to sell a law degree for “several delicious tacos,” Above the Law reported in October.
