Law grad paralegal says employer asked her to be his 'third wife,' made her feed him with chopsticks
A recent law graduate working as a paralegal says a New York attorney talked to her about pornography, repeatedly pitched her on the benefits of polygamy, asked her to become his “third wife” and insisted that she feed him with chopsticks at a restaurant.
Sarbrina Rafi makes the allegations against James R. Ray in a sexual harassment lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court in Manhattan, the New York Post reports.
Rafi, who said she tried to laugh off Ray’s behavior after she began working for the firm in December, claims she was fired in February when Ray became angry about her clothing. To avoid his advances, she alleges, she wore multiple layers of clothing, even including a coat, in the office.
The attorney could not be reached Thursday for comment, the Post reports. In a Friday phone call to his law office, the ABA Journal was referred to Ray’s attorney, who did not immediately respond to a phone message left with her law office.
