A Widener law professor’s job troubles aren’t over, despite a faculty panel determination that he should not be fired for using hypotheticals involving the dean’s murder.

Professor Lawrence Connell is now facing complaints filed by two students under the school’s harassment and discrimination code, the National Law Journal reports. The complaints also stem from the hypotheticals, but they will be resolved under a different process, the story says.

The school’s dean, Linda Ammons, is a black woman. Connell was accused of making Ammons a shooting victim in at least 10 hypotheticals, and a drug dealer in another. University administrators and a faculty member appointed by Ammons will consider the new complaints.

Connell’s lawyer, Thomas Neuberger, told the National Law Journal he’s preparing defamation complaints against the two complaining students. He’s pessimistic about the new administrative review.

“Connell’s situation is hopeless and he cannot hope for a fair trial before anyone but the fair-minded and independent professionals found among the tenured law school faculty,” Neuberger told the NLJ.
