A Chicago law student who reads TaxProf Blog was so moved by a law professor’s plea for a kidney for his daughter that she offered to become a living donor.

The student, who wants to remain anonymous, is pursuing an LL.M. in tax law, TaxProf Blog reports. She responded after Mitchell Rubinstein, the editor of Adjunct Law Prof Blog, put out a plea for donors on his blog and on TaxProf Blog.

Rubinstein’s daughter, Linda, received a kidney from a 14-year-old who died rather than the law student. The surgery on June 29 was successful, Rubinstein writes at Adjunct Law Prof Blog. “Linda is doing great!” he reports.

The law student explained the reason for her decision in an email to TaxProf blog. “To me it’s like, hey, I’m type O Blood and I’ve got an extra kidney, so why not help some one else,” she wrote.
