A company formed by an intellectual property lawyer claims in a lawsuit that Twitter is infringing a patent he obtained in 2002 for “an interactive virtual community of famous people.”

Lawyer Dinesh Agarwal’s original patent describes a “method and system” to create such virtual celebrity communities, according to PaidContent.org. He transferred the patent to VS Technologies, the plaintiff in the suit, after forming the company in September. The company and Agarwal’s law offices both have the same address in Alexandria, Va.

The TechCrunch blog’s reaction to the suit was incredulous. “Yeah, good luck with that,” the blog wrote.

PaidContent has posted a copy of the lawsuit.
