If you think giving up law practice means a cut in pay, think again.

Philadelphia lawyer Kate Carrara gave up her law job last year to start a business driving a cupcake truck, selling her house, car and engagement ring to help raise about $50,000 for start-up costs, the Washington Post reports. But the investment was apparently worth it.

In a Q-and-A, Carrara was asked whether the business is profitable. “In the first year, we made $100,000, but we’re putting a lot of that back into the business now,” Carrara replied. She’s starting to look into retail and wholesale outlets for the desserts, and would like to open some kiosks.
