Attorney Diana Minella never intended to scam her clients, her lawyer says. But, due to bad business practices, she wound up being accused of taking money from 170 of them for services she didn’t provide.

Today, after paying $36,000 in restitution, the suspended Texas lawyer was sentenced to eight years of probation. She must also give up her law license, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

Known for advertising that she could resolve a case for less than a ticket cost, she wound up paying less on the tickets than was owed, according to the San Antonio Bar Association, and filing for bankruptcy.

She now spends her time taking care of her mother and is considering a new career in home health services, her lawyer says.
