An Arkansas lawyer has given up his law license in Arkansas and Oklahoma after acknowledging he converted more than $100,000 of law firm funds to his own use.

Lawyer Michael Redd admits to taking the funds from Robertson, Beasley, Shipley & Redd, but says he has made restitution, report the Legal Profession Blog and Arkansas Online. State supreme court orders accepting his resignation are here and here.

Redd, who has practiced law since 1987, joined Robertson Beasley in Fort Smith in October 2014, according to Arkansas Online. He is also a certified public accountant and was put in charge of the firm’s finances.

Redd said he was giving up his law license to avoid the expense, stress and publicity of disbarment proceedings, according to the Arkansas Supreme Court.
