A lawyer, economist, actor, political speechwriter and journalist perhaps best-known for his role as a teacher in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off will serve as the keynote speaker at the ABA Techshow this spring.

Ben Stein “is going to bring a unique perspective to ABA Techshow that we have never experienced before,” the American Bar Association announced today in a post on its ABA Techshow 2012 page.

Pamela McDevitt, who serves as director of the ABA’s Law Practice Management Section, told the ABA Journal that Stein’s economic expertise is what made him a winning choice as speaker for those who oversee LPM. “The board actually thought he would have a unique perspective on the impact of technology and the economics of law practice,” she explained.

The annual Techshow, which features exhibits about legal technology of use to attorneys, will be held from March 29 to March 31 in Chicago.

The Internet Movie Database provides more details about Stein’s Renaissance man background.
