On Monday, attorney Anne Widlak expected her husband of six years to give her a 4 a.m. wake-up call, as she was out of town on a business trip.

But it never came and later that day she heard from someone at the Macomb County sheriff’s office, wanting to know if her husband had come home the previous evening. She rushed back to their Detroit area home and has spent the rest of the week waiting for news about her husband, David.

Although some have suggested that there might have been some reason why the 62-year-old president and chief executive officer of Community Central Bank Corp. would intentionally disappear, Anne Widlak is adamant that he would never have abandoned her or his family, or run away from any other problem, although she is aware of none, reports Crain’s Detroit Business.

She asked anyone who knows anything about her husband’s disappearance to come forward and tell authorities.

“He was a family man. He loves his family. He loves his bank. There’s nothing that points anywhere but to foul play,” Anne Widlak a partner at Nemeth Burwell, told Crain’s today. “If he’d been doing something odd, I would have known. He was a wonderful husband and a wonderful man. I know this man through and through, and nothing supports any theory other than a crime.”

The Crimesider blog of CBS News provides additional details about the missing person case.

David Widlak was last seen Sunday night at the bank’s administrative offices, and his car was still parked outside when he was discovered to be missing the next morning. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is helping local authorities search for him.

A maintenance man alerted authorities early Monday morning after he spotted David Widlak’s car in the lot around 7 a.m., went into the offices to say hello and found the bank president’s office empty and in disarray, reports the Detroit News.
