A Texas jury is pondering punishment after finding a lawyer guilty Monday of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting at a U.S. census worker in 2010.
The worker, Kathleen Gittel, was not injured despite being fired at five times by Barnes, she told authorities, as Gittel was at work near Leander, trying to verify the lawyer’s house number.
“She said ‘get off my property or this is your last day on Earth,’ ” Gittel told the jury.
