California lawyer Michael Lukehart wasn’t going to let anything like a major heart attack interfere with closing arguments he was scheduled to deliver Monday.
The Bakersfield lawyer told KERO-TV that he woke up with massive chest pains, but he went to the courthouse instead of the hospital. Lukehart acknowledged he was in denial.
“You get focused if you're a real serious ‘[litigator], and at some point nothing gets in the way of finishing the trial or doing your job,” Lukehart told the TV station. “Every doctor who ever hears this is probably cringing to hear it, 'cause minutes matter in such matters."
Lukehart returned to his office around 11 a.m. and asked his secretary to drive him to the hospital. He says he is expected to make a full recovery.

Yeah, but did he win? If he lost, it sure would be DISHEARTENING!

I am glad that he is okay. But this story makes me realize that, based on this gentleman’s actions, I must not be a very good lawyer; i tend to put my health (as well as spending time with my family) ahead of my career….

Are we taking bets on whether the client asks to cut the bill or refuses to pay?
