A Texas lawyer was arrested last Thursday for allegedly threatening her boyfriend with a gun and shooting out the windshield on his truck.

Lawyer Rebecca Hendricks Brewer, 46, of McKinney was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, report the Dallas Morning News, MyFoxDFW and KXII.com.

Brewer is a shareholder with Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Joplin. Her practice includes representation of municipalities and other governmental entities.

An arrest warrant affidavit cited by the Dallas Morning News says Brewer’s arrest stems from an argument last Monday with her boyfriend, Michael Bulla. According to the affidavit, Brewer found the .38-caliber gun while going through the contents of Bulla’s truck.

Inside her house, Brewer allegedly forced Bulla at gunpoint to make “lengthy confessions” during several phone calls and to write her a check for $8,000, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Bulla told police he grabbed the gun while Brewer was texting, resulting in a struggle for the gun and a gunshot that struck the bathtub. Bulla got the gun and ran outside, where Brewer allegedly cut Bolla’s arm with scissors and punctured three tires on the truck.

MyFox and KXII reported that Brewer was accused of firing the gun multiple times at her boyfriend, but that allegation is not in the Dallas Morning News account.

After the incident, Brewer’s ex-husband, former judge Greg Brewer, obtained temporary custody of their three boys, ages 11,13 and 15.
