A New York City lawyer has been charged with the robbery of a Greenwich, Connecticut, bank.

Lawyer Meighan Marie McSherry, 46, was arrested in a car near the bank shortly after the robbery on Thursday, report the Hartford Courant, Greenwich Time and the New York Daily News.

McSherry was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. Police say the bank robber presented a note to the teller at the Wells Fargo Bank that demanded money and stated she had a weapon.

McSherry’s lawyer, Jennifer De Castro Tunnard, said at a court hearing on Friday that her client had spent the evening before the robbery in Pound Ridge, New York, and doesn’t know how she ended up in Greenwich, according to Greenwich Time.

McSherry previously worked for Bronx Legal Aid, according to the New York Daily News. A legal aid spokeswoman told the newspaper that McSherry began a leave of absence a year ago.
