Lawyer Mark Zuckerberg's Name Costs Him Google Traffic, Nets Him Angry Tech Support Calls
The Social Network, a movie about Facebook and its founders, opens today, but Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t plan to see it.
Well, at least not Mark S. Zuckerberg of Indianapolis, who practices bankruptcy law and claims to receive dozens of phone calls every day for the 26-year-old Facebook founder who shares his name. Most of those calls are complaints or demands for tech support, the lawyer tells the Indianapolis Star.
The Indianapolis Zuckerberg, who is 48, told the Indianapolis Star that his Facebook page is also blowing up, with 500 friend requests a day. (A Philadelphia personal injury lawyer by the name of Justin Bieber has had a similar Facebook experience.)
So much that he created a Web page, I am Mark Zuckerberg, to explain the situation. The name is unusual, he adds, and the Facebook founder’s popularity has greatly pushed down the lawyer’s search engine presence.
Despite the problems, the 48-year-old admits to the Indianapolis Star that there are some perks to the confusion.
“I went to Vegas one time, and I called for reservations. They said, ‘What’s your name?’ and I told them. And they said, ‘Oh, we can get you right in, sir.’ “
