Houston lawyer John O’Quinn owes $41.4 million because he overcharged former breast implant clients, an arbitration panel ruled yesterday.

The amount owed climbed from the $35.7 million sum O’Quinn was ordered to pay in July after interest and attorney fees were added, the Houston Chronicle reports. The suit had claimed O’Quinn took cash from settlements to pay legal expenses that had not been authorized.

Overlawyered posted the July arbitration ruling (PDF) in the case.

In July, O’Quinn called the ruling unfair and said he didn’t cheat anybody. “We got people record results and charged the least expenses of any law firm in town,” he said.

Joe Jamail was one of the lead lawyers representing O’Quinn’s former clients. The legendary lawyer was profiled in a recent Houston Chronicle article along with Richard “Racehorse” Haynes. The story said both lawyers are in their 80s but refuse to slow down.
