A lawyer has pleaded guilty to stealing $145,000 from an Atlanta law firm where he worked as a managing attorney.
Wayne Williams, 50, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to theft and forgery, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He was accused of stealing the money from the personal injury law firm Joel & Associates.
Williams will also have to surrender his law license and write a letter of apology. Prosecutors say Williams took about 24 checks intended for the law firm and deposited them in his personal checking account.
