A Buffalo, N.Y., lawyer has avoided jail time for a misdemeanor assault stemming from a scuffle at a Train rock concert last year.

Lawyer John Liberti was sentenced to three years of probation and 300 hours of community service, the Buffalo News reports. He is accused of scuffling with off-duty corrections officer Brian Parkin in a March 2010 fight that left Parkin with a broken ankle.

Liberti is known for his ads advising people to call him if they’ve been arrested, the Buffalo News reported last year.

Liberti could have been sentenced to up to a year in jail. His lawyer, Andrew LoTempio, has said the fight began when Parkin ripped a motorcycle jacket off the back of Liberti’s wife, claiming it was his. An Erie County judge found Liberti guilty of third-degree assault in a bench trial in May.
