A California bankruptcy lawyer is suing over a Yelp review that claimed he asked a potential client for a date.

Lawyer Anthony Hughes of Natomas tells KXTV the review by “Shaan D.” is a fabrication and he believes the author could have been “a review writer for hire from India.” He thinks the intent was to harm his business.

“The bankruptcy attorney industry is very competitive,” Hughes told the broadcast station. “So I haven’t ruled out the fact that it could be a competitor.”

The review called Hughes a “nightmare bankruptcy attorney.” The reviewer said Hughes was recommended, “so i went to that person privately to see if i can get a help. but instead he was soliciting me to go out with him. I was so embarrased that day. So ladies and gentlemen be careful who you choose to ask for help, diffinately not Anthony hughes.”

Hughes hopes to learn Shaan D.’s identity through the lawsuit. He said he couldn’t reach the writer through Yelp’s message feature and Yelp refused his request to take down the review.
