Lawyer Turned Stay-at-Home Mom Wins Big in Recipe Contests
A 37-year-old former lawyer who stays home with her kids in Falls Church, Va., is finding fortune and fame in the world of recipe contests.
Jennifer Beckman has won three recipe contests this year, according to the Washington Post’s All We Can Eat blog. She took home a $100,000 prize for her most recent win in Sutter Home Winery’s Build a Better Burger competition for her “screen porch burgers.”
Beckman also won the 15th annual National Cornbread Cook-Off and a Crisco olive oil contest.
Beckman’s lawyer background could be helping. Asked for her advice, Beckman told the blog, “Make sure your entry conforms to the small print.”
