Lawyer Who Claimed Strip Club Duped Him Now Alleges Spiked Drinks and Secret Cameras
A South Florida lawyer who claimed in a lawsuit that a Miami strip club got him drunk and charged him $19,000 has filed an amended complaint with allegations of spiked drinks and secret cameras.
The Daily Business Review identifies the plaintiff as “traffic ticket king Mark Gold” and the defendants as the Goldrush and its owner, “strip club impresario Jack Galardi.” The amended suit (PDF) alleges the club spiked its drinks with anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax and used hidden cameras to photograph patrons signing credit card receipts to be used in any later disputes over the charges.
The suit claims club staffers sized up customers and targeted well-to-do married professionals who “would likely care about their public reputation, are from out of town or who appear intoxicated.” When high charges later appeared on bills, embarrassment prevented many of the customers from contesting the amounts, the suit claims.
The complaint does not cite any specific evidence that the drinks were spiked, however.
The Daily Business Review was unable to contact a lawyer for the strip club owner, but the story notes the case has been “hotly litigated” with a previous request for sanctions against Gold and his lawyer.
