A Minneapolis lawyer who stole more than $2 million from clients and his law firm, Lindquist & Vennum, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison.

Michael Scott Margulies stole the money through fraudulent invoices and expense reports and forged checks. He was sentenced on Tuesday, the Star Tribune reports.

Most of the money was used to renovate Margulies’ historic mansion in St. Paul, Minn., that he shared with his wife. Margulies is now divorced and the home is for sale.
