Lawyer's $900/Hour Arbitration Fee Angers Transit Board Members
After casting the swing vote in an arbitration that upped the ante on New York City transit worker pay by 11.3 percent over three years, a Weil Gotshal & Manges lawyer has added insult to injury as far as Metropolitan Transportation Authority board members are concerned.
John Zuccotti charged the MTA $900 an hour for his work on the arbitration panel, helping to bring the law firm’s total bill, including work done by others at Weil Gotshal, to $400,000, reports the New York Daily News.
“How did this happen?” one angry board member asks the newspaper, requesting anonymity. “I don’t even know who decided to do this.”
The $115,000 attributable to Zuccotti’s work will be donated to charity—the widows and orphans fund of MTA and Transit Workers Union Local 100.
