Police say a Maine lawyer damaged a Denver boot worth $480 when he tried to drive his truck away while the device was still attached to his wheel.

Lawyer Michael Harman of Millinocket was charged with criminal mischief after the device lodged under his wheel well, damaging both his truck and the boot, police told the Bangor Daily News.

Sgt. Paul Edwards told the Daily News that Harman pulled out his checkbook and paid his unpaid tickets on the spot. “Both he and his vehicle were released,” Edwards said.
