Lawyers representing Britney Spears in her ongoing custody battle are calling it quits.

The law firm Trope and Trope told a court yesterday that there has been a breakdown in communications with its famous client that makes representation impossible, according to an Associated Press story based on a filing obtained by CelebTV.com. The firm is asking permission to withdraw from the case.

EOnline says the law firm reportedly decided to quit on the same day that Spears failed to show up for a deposition in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The Trope firm replaced Spears’ lawyer Laura Wasser in September.
