Lawyer’s Magic Hobby Invites Jokes

Ohio lawyer Robert “Rusty” Rittenhouse picks up some extra cash by doing magic tricks at wedding receptions, childrens’ parties and the like, inviting the inevitable jokes.

"There are a lot of jokes from the family who say that it's the same profession," he told the Athens Messenger. "The judges joke that they don't want to see me pulling a rabbit out of a hat.” Others have advised him to take up criminal defense work to “make the evidence disappear.”

Rittenhouse said he has been interested in magic since the age of 6 and never gave up the pursuit. He is an associate at Lavelle & Associates in Athens.
